I painted this piece to comment on the glaring disparity and irony between economic ideologies and social justice, comparing their transmission from the top-down structures of advertising and traditional institutional training to the grassroots, community-driven principles that underpin our progressive social values upheld by most today. The development process was fascinating as it prompted reflection on the past while envisioning a pessimistically dark future, contemplating the starkly different paths future generations might likely tread, ranging from uprisings to the pursuit of economic prosperity. The divide between selfishness and selflessness, peace and violence, anger and love seems like an ongoing interrogation, blurring the boundaries between right and wrong, just and unjust. This artwork serves as commentary on the potential fate of systems and civilization as a whole in the future. I encourage contemplation about how your early upbringing and ongoing social influences might have shaped your beliefs and values. Consider how these factors could influence your future stance, the paths you're yet to explore, and the impact you'll have on future generations.
